A client asked us to look into an inventory issue in NetSuite where they knew they had items available in a Bin, but the item record didn't show an equal number as available. If they tried to fulfill or transfer that item, there is no Inventory Detail option.
After some troubleshooting, we could see that this was because the item had an item fulfillment in a closed sales order. An example of this is when Jacob orders an item from Amazon. The sales order is created, and then someone releases the order in a wave for fulfillment. It was picked up and packed, but it has not been shipped.
Here is a handy NetSuite saved search to find out when this has happened.
Create a new Transaction search called AG |Closed SO Lines with IFs
Use the following Criteria:
Display the following results:
Save and run! This search now will show any Sales Orders that have Item Fulfillments that are not finished and will lock inventory.
Item SCH164500 - shows Bin R3-54A has two on hand and one available. That is because the above Item Fulfillment is holding that item.
Now, you will be able to see item fulfillments that need to be deleted and the inventory transferred to the correct Bin!
To prevent these from being overlooked in the future, we recommend emailing the results to the warehouse manager so they can take timely action. It can also be helpful to add this as a reminder to the appropriate NetSuite dashboards.
