This article will provide the process to create and configure a new domain for a SuiteCommerce website. Before setting up your domain, create a website record first. Then, proceed to the following steps.
Step 1: Navigate to Commerce > Hosting > Domains.
Step 2: If a domain is already listed and you do not need to add a new one, click Edit by the domain. Otherwise, click New.
Step 3: Select the appropriate domain type from the dropdown.
Step 4: Enter the domain name to use. For sandbox sites, this is usually sandbox.{domain} where {domain} is the client’s main domain.
Step 5: Select the website with which to associate the domain. This is most likely the one set up with the website record.
Step 6: Under Hosting Root choose the folder where the website files will live. This is usually the Live Hosting Files folder.
Step 8: The DNS information will automatically populate based on what you enter in the Domain Name field.
Step 9: Choose the desired certificate type. We recommend Automatic.
Step 10: Check the box for Use CDN Cache.
Step 11: If a site maintenance page displays, you can select it.
Step 12: If you would like a a specific 404 error page, choose among the values in the Not-Found Page field.
Step 13: Click Save.
SuiteCommerce websites act as a second domain to whatever domain you have with a hosting provider. In order for web traffic to get to your SuiteCommerce website, a specific CNAME record needs to be added to your hosting provider.
In NetSuite, for both the main and the verification CNAME records, the values you need to add with the hosting provider are found in the domain settings area of NetSuite (Commerce > Hosting > Domains) once you have defined your domain. An example screenshot is below.

You must add both CNAME records to the hosting provider.
Important Note: With the release of NetSuite 2024, there is now a DNS verification status check. This check shows as failed unless the second CNAME record is added to the hosting. See the failure example shown below:

The exact process for adding CNAME records with your hosting provider depends on which hosting provider you use. This article details how to do it with GoDaddy: GoDaddy - Add a CNAME record.
Failure to add the second CNAME record will result in:
After the domain is setup and the CNAME records are added to the hosting provider, you need to continue through the SuiteCommerce setup. The next step is to link commerce applications to the domain. If you run into any issues with this process, feel free to reach out to us.
