Problem: Button Not Appearing
One of my NetSuite clients recently went live with Avalara. They came to me with an issue they were having with a lack of permissions. Specifically, they needed to have access to the Retrieve Certificates button. As an Administrator, I was able to push the button and go to the Retrieve Certificates page. In their custom Controller role, I was unable to see the button.

The first step was to give their Controller role the new Avalara permissions under the Custom Records Subtab in the Roles page. Adding these permissions is enough to get the button to appear. However, you will run into this error:
Solution: Add Custom Roles in NetSuite to the Deployment of Their Scripts
Even with all of the permissions added to the role, you will still run into this issue. This is because custom roles do not default to having permission to Avalara’s custom script deployments. The solution here is that you need to add those custom roles to the deployment of their scripts.
